What is Cancer ?

Defination: Cancer is a disease in which cells multiply without control, destroy healthy tissue, and endanger life. There are about a 100 types of cancer that attacks us. Cancer strikes people of any age but the chances are more for the middle aged and the elderly.

How Cancer Develops? Cancer develops as a result of abnormal cell reproduction. The body of an adult is made up of billion cells. Normal cells reproduce at exactly the rate required to replace the dying cells, never at a faster rate. Like normal cells cancer cells also reproduce by dividing.

Kinds of Cancer: The various cancers are classified into By a cancer’s primary body site- the site where the cancer develops By the type of body tissue in which the cancer originates Skin Cancer- Skin Cancer grows very slowly and does not spread to any other parts of the body. So this cancer is easy to treat. However a special type of skin cancer called the malignant melanoma is particularly dangerous. Cancers of the digestive organs In this type of cancer the colon, the rectum, sometimes esophagus, liver, pancreas and stomach are affected. Cancers of the respiratory system This type of cancer involves the larynx and the lungs. Lung cancer is the more common of the two kinds. Breast Cancer Three fourth of the breast cancer occur in women aged 40 and above. Female breast cancer patients whose disease is found and treated have good rate of survival Cancers of the Reproductive system The male organ most often affected is the sex gland called prostate. The common cancer that affects women is the cancer of the childbearing organ the uterus. Most cancers of the Uterus affect the lower necklike part which is the cervix. Cancers of the lymphatic systems Cancer of the bone marrow and other blood forming organs is called leukemia. It involves the multiplication of immature white blood cells at the expense of vital blood elements. Cancer of the Urinary System This cancer occurs less often than the cancers of other major body organs. The bladder is the organ usually affected.

Causes of Cancer: The cancer causing agents are called Carcinogens which attack the normal human cells. Some Carcinogens are introduced into the body through the nose, mouth, or Skin some other opening. Various ChemicalsCertain forms of radiationCigarette smoking is the main cause of lung caner. Some industrial chemicals create a cancer hazard for people who work with them. Some cancer including colon and breast occur among blood relatives. The alteration of genes that control cell development may cause cancer.Cancer DetectionThere are seven warning signals of CancerAn unusual change in the bowel or bladder habitsA wound which does not heal quicklyBleeding or discharge in large quantityUnusual lump in the body Difficulty in swallowing foodObvious change in the wart or moleNagging cough or hoarseness

Treatment of Cancer: There are various treatments for Cancer such as
Surgery,Radiation Therapy, Drug therapy, Radiotherapy, Drug therapy.

Diabetes Mellitus

Definition:Diabetes can be caused by too little insulin (a hormone produced by the pancreas to control blood sugar), resistance to insulin, or both. Diabetes is a chronic condition. DM exhibits wide geographic variation in incidence and prevalence Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder caused by an absolute or relative deficiency of insulin, an anabolic hormone. Diabetes mellitus is defined as a fasting blood glucose of 126 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) or more.

Types: There are two basic forms of diabetes. Type 1 diabetes mellitus--formerly known as insulin-dependent diabetes (IDDM), childhood diabetes or also known as juvenile diabetes, is characterized by loss of the insulin-producing beta cells of the islets of Langerhans of the pancreas leading to a deficiency of insulin. It should be noted that there is no known preventative measure that can be taken against type 1 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes appears most often in middle-aged.

Causes:Diabetes causes many changes in the body. Neuropathy (damage to the nerves) affects sensation to the feet, so that pain is not felt. Diabetes affects approximately 17 million people (about 8% of the population) in the United States. In addition, an estimated additional 12 million people in the United States have diabetes and don't even know it. Diabetes is the third leading cause of death in the United States after heart disease and cancer. Males are at greater risk in regions of high incidence, particularly older males, whose incidence rates often show seasonal variation. People with diabetes often develop bacterial and fungal infections, typically of the skin. When the levels of sugar in the blood are high, white blood cells cannot effectively fight infections. Diabetes is a major risk factor for stroke and coronary heart disease, which includes heart attack.
Serious medical illness and surgery produce a state of increased insulin resistance. Controlling your blood sugar is essential to feeling healthy and avoiding long-term complications of diabetes. Diet, exercise and weight reduction should be the cornerstone of management.

Treatment: The treatment of markedly symptomatic patients with newly discovered type 2 diabetes and glucose levels >400 mg/dL is controversial. Medications used to treat diabetes include insulin. Medications such as thiazides, used to control high blood pressure, and niacin, used for high cholesterol, also may increase blood sugar. Everyone needs regular aerobic exercise, and people with diabetes are no exception. The good news is that the same exercises that are good for your heart and lungs also help lower your blood sugar levels. Drugs and foods known to affect the CYP3A4 system need to be used cautiously in patients treated with atorvastatin, lovastatin, or simvastatin because these agents are largely metabolized through that system.

Diabetes Mellitus Treatment Tips :

What is an Anger Management Assessment?

Licensed mental health clinicians including psychologists, clinical social workers and licensed professional counselors are all familiar with and are trained to perform assessments. The most common may be the psychosocial assessment. This assessment takes a global look at the individual's history as well as current symptoms to come up with a mental health diagnosis. Anger has not been categorized by the American Psychiatric Association as a mental health disorder, therefore in the process of having a mental health assessment one cannot be diagnosed as having "anger" as one is diagnosed as having bipolar or depression. Unlike a mental health diagnosis, anger is considered a normal human emotion which only becomes a problem if it is too long lasting, too severe and too frequent. An anger management assessment seeks to determine not the roots of the anger as with a psychosocial assessment, but the deficiencies that come together to create problematic anger.

The assessment that I am most familiar with is called the anger management map or the Conover Assessment. This is a research validated assessment that is either done on computer or on paper. It provides information on an individual's assertiveness skills, motivation to change, stress management skills, empathy, level or potential of interpersonal aggression and the ability to set boundaries and think independently of others. When an individual completes the test it prints out a graphical illustration of the results as well as several pages of interpretation. This information is used as a baseline to begin an anger management program. I have found that clients are impressed with the graphical display of the core issues that drive their anger and often use the assessment as a conversation piece to share their struggles with spouses, siblings and parents. The assessment also can be used in each session to keep the client focused on the goals of treatment. At the end of the anger management course the assessment can be retaken to determine if any progress has been made. The anger management assessment has special significance for couples who struggle with constant conflict. Each time I give this assessment to a couple the results are startling. The test reveals that as it relates to anger management, they are polar opposites. When one is very empathetic the other is not -- when one is assertive the other is not -- when one is good at managing stress the other is not. When I show both the husband and wife the results of the assessment it tends to really make sense to them. In a visual format, they see how their differences can be at the foundation of their conflicts. The couple can then begin the work of learning skills to state needs and communicate in ways that significantly reduce the anger.

The anger management assessment is appropriate for anyone who has to take an anger management class. It is also helpful for employers who want to assess the potential of a prospective employee to cause interpersonal conflict at work or whose anger will get in the way of their work. It has been noted most individuals who lose their jobs do not do so because they are incompetent; they do so because they have trouble getting along with peers. Human resource professionals can therefore benefit from having a certified anger management facilitator conduct an anger management assessment. In the long run it can save time, money, and the headache of hiring a potentiality disruptive employee. Milk Poison - MELAMINE

China Milk Poisoning Incidents Make Everyone afraid to look at the daily news report. Everyday, the reports are changing. No one can clearly tell us what to eat and not to eat.

1. What really is poisoned milk?

It is the milk powder mixed with "MELAMINE"

2.What is Melamine used for ?
It is an industrial chemical use in the production of melawares. It is also used in home decoration." US resistant board"
Do you understand Melamine is use in industrial production it cannot be eaten.

3.Why is Melamine added in milk powder ?

The most important nutrient in milk is protein. And Melamine has the same protein that contains "NITROGEN"

Adding Melamine in milk reduces milk content and it is cheaper then milk so it lowers capitalization. It can give the business man more profit! below is Melamine doesn't it look like milk it doesn't have any smell, so cannot be detected

4. When was it discovered ?

Year 2007 US cats and dogs died suddenly, they found that pet food from China contains Melamine. Starting 2008, In China , an abnormal increase in infant cases of kidney stones. August 2008 China Sanlu Milk Powder tested with Melamine . New Zealand gov't ask China to check this problem Sept. 21, 2008 Lots of food products in Taiwan tested with Melamine

5.What happens when Melamine is digested ?
Melamine remains inside the kidney. It forms into stones blocking the tubes. Pain will be eminent and person cannot urinate. Kidney will then swell.

Although surgery can remove the stones, but it will cause irreversible kidney damage. It can lead to loss of kidney function and will require kidney dialysis or lead to death because of uremia.

What is dialysis ?

A small hole is required in the arm to insert the sub-dialysis catheter. In fact, it should be called "blood washing" it is filtering all of the body's blood into the machine and then go back to the body.

The whole process takes 4 hours and it is necessary to dialysis once for every 3 days for the rest of your life. Here is a dialysis center

Large dialysis center

Why is it more serious in babies Because the kidney is very small and they drink a lot of milk powder. Here is a baby undergoing dialysis. China currently has 13,000 infants hospitalized

It does not matter how much a human being took Melamine. The important point is "It cannot be EATEN!"

6.What are the foods to be avoided?

Foods that contain dairy products should be avoided.
Remember: Foods with creamer or milk should be avoided.
7. Which companies are affected
Hereunder are the companies affected with Melamine.

8.What do we do next ?
Avoid the above foods for at least six months If you have snack bar, restaurant or coffee shops Stop selling dairy products for the meantime. If you have infants at home, change to mother's milk or find other substitutes. Finally share this information with friends so they will understand the risk of milk poisoning ....Pls Forward this mail to your friends

Male Hair Loss

Male Hair Loss The cause of hair loss is a controversial issue and disagreement is widespread even with the so called experts. There are many opinions on the subject and even more recommendations on how to stop hair loss or at least slow it down. There are some products which are even supposed to help regrow hair, however this is also debatable and can vary between person to person.

Adrogenetic Alopecia or so called male pattern baldness can be a man's worse nightmare, everyone loses hair but lets face it men do it faster and more efficiently than women. Male pattern baldness is a natural process and unfortunately is a part of getting older; if you are between the ages of 18 - 45 and you start to lose hair from your scalp then the probability that you are experiencing male-pattern baldness is very high. To the despair of most men we are genetically predisposed to male pattern baldness and this is by far the biggest cause of hair lose in men. It also affects different groups of people to different extents.

Supposedly more than 50% of white men will experience some level of male pattern baldness by the age of 50, while some other races in Asia such as the Japanese are not affected as much. Scientific research has shown that the gene for hair loss comes from either or both sides of the family, and contrary to popular belief, is not linked only to your mother's side. If your immediate family have experienced hair loss it is more than probable that you will also suffer this condition in your lifetime. There is normally a consistent pattern in male hair loss with generally a gradual loss of hair at the temples / crown of the head and then eventually over time this leads to complete loss of hair on top of the head or in some cases all over. DHT Scientists believe that the male hormone testosterone or more importantly dihydrotesterone is the cause behind hair loss. DHT is produced when the enzyme 5 alpha reductase combines with testosterone.

This overabundance of DHT leads to follicles that produce weaker, shorter and thinner hair and eventually over time this will cause it to stop producing hair. This DHT imbalance leads to baldness (androgenetic alopecia). Since all of us all have DHT that is made by our bodies and only some people suffer from hair loss and others don't there must be something else at work here. This other factor is having hair follicles that have a bigger percentage of Androgen receptors for the DHT to attach to and this is the component that is passed on through the genes of your parents.

Male hormones start activating when a man is sexually mature so it is rare that a male will experience hair loss before puberty. Stress In my own personal view and many others, stress can be a contributing factor behind hair loss, this can also be said for other many other illness we face in our lifetimes. Stress appears to be a product of modern day life, however it did exist in the past, but it would of never of had the same kind of coverage it does today due to the media age we now live in. Today's society especially in the west is so fast it is sometime hard to keep up and maybe thats why Caucasians suffer from hair loss more than other races. Our lifestyles seem to run at a furious and hectic pace and this even comes down to the way we eat food as more and more of us consume rubbish fast food at an alarming rate. Have any of you considered taking your full lunch time at work? I can tell you now that myself and the people I work with don't take there full lunch breaks and most of the time you have consumed your food within 20 minutes and you are straight back to your desk staring at your PC monitor! Of course this is just a small factor of possible stress but work stress is definitely a big player in the overall stress you face in your life, however if this leads to your hair falling out no one can be certain, but it certainly can't help. Among other hair loss causes there are also other factors in hair loss, these are listed below: Injury or serious trauma Poor diet Environmental Toxic substances Medicines Radiation (chemotherapy) Hormonal imbalance Possible cures I don't believe there is a complete cure for hair loss but there are most certainly some products out there which help slow down or prevent further hair loss, some of these products even promote that they can regrow some of your hair. These products either come in the form of a pill or just a liquid such as a shampoo and some of them are claiming big successes. First off I recommend you get diagnosed first and to make sure your hair loss is not due to any other factor other than androgenetic alopecia. If your hair loss is a natural process than I would start looking into the many products available on the net today and do some serious research about the issue. Of course there are easier options such as wigs or if your have the money hair replacement surgery, however I believe most people don't want to or ever consider wearing a wig as its just to embarrassing or too much hassle or just doesn't work.

Hair replacement treatment is also a no no for most people as it's either too expensive or they are just scared of the whole idea of taking hair from one part of your head and attaching it to another part. So make sure, before you decide on what you want to do about your hair loss, do the research first and then decide on how you wish to combat it.

IDENTIFY STROKE - Save a Life

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. So Identification of stroke can save a life - so read this article carefully. This can save you and your beloved one. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE: Remember the '3' steps, STR . Read and Learn! Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions :

S * = Ask the individual to SMILE ..

T * = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (eg 'It is sunny out today').
R * = Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS .

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

NOTE : Another 'sign' of a stroke is
1. Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue.
2. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or
the other that is also an indication of a stroke.

A prominent cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved. And by sharing this infomation to your family member your life can be protected in case of Stroke event.

STRESS: Is It Your Silent Killer?

Merriam-Webster's Medical Dictionary defines Stress as a physical, chemical, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension and may be a factor in disease causation; a state of bodily or mental tension resulting from factors that tend to alter an existent equilibrium. Stress is something that everyone experiences at some time or another. Be it on the job, sitting in traffic, or just having an argument with one’s significant other, some stress is unavoidable. However, if stress is allowed to affect your life on an ongoing basis, it can become a chronic condition that can lead to many health problems - even death. The long-term effects of chronic stress can be physical, behavioral and even psychological.

Physical symptoms experienced when encountering too much stress are hair falling out, headaches, upset stomach, tension in the neck, back or other body parts. For example, let’s say you work on a job that is constantly understaffed. There are always unreasonable deadlines. Your boss constantly threatens you with these deadlines and tells you that if the work is not completed by such and such a date, they will have to let you go. You have a car payment, house payment and 2.5 kids.

What will you do if you lose your job? You replay that over and over again in your head. You get a headache. Your neck tightens. Shortly after, your stomach begins to ache. Does this sound familiar? I once worked in a department where I was lied on and talked about. Everyone was afraid to confront the person spreading the discord within the department. It was a highly stressful situation. I was bringing my anxiety home with me and dreading coming to work the next day. I finally decided that enough was enough and I was going to look for another job. This stress was not worth it. Rather than have it control me. I was taking control of the situation and removing myself from it. Well, thank God that during my process of searching for another job, the sower of discord was let go from the company. Some behavorial symptoms of stress are an increase in irritability, a decrease in work productivity and even impulsive behavior (Can someone say Shopping as a form of therapy?) Psychological symptoms of stress can be depression and anxiety. For example, let’s revisit the understaffed job that always has you on unreasonable time constraints.

You feel undervalued and begin to feel, “What’s the point?” Depression sets in. You don’t even feel like going to work anymore. Maybe you should run away? All sorts of thoughts flood your mind. While the example in this writing may appear extreme, there are many people experiencing this sort of constant stress every day. I don’t have the time or space to list other avenues of where stress can potentially generate (ex: Sexual harassment on a job, teen on drugs). However, stress should never be taken for granted. To reiterate, while some stress is normal, chronic, unresolved stress can be a serious health problem that can lead to conditions that can even cause death. Prolonged exposure to stress can result in high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. There are various methods of dealing with stress. You can ignore it (this is not really dealing with it all). You can enroll in a stress management program. You can purchase stress relief products to help promote relaxation. You can choose to cast all of your cares on God because He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. KJV Rather you choose one or all of the above, do whatever you do to relieve the stress in your life. Don’t ignore it. Handle, it. Manage it. Eliminate the source of it.

Get Rid of Kidney Stones Naturally

Kidney stone is a hidden health denger.Kidney stones are hard stone like masses that are formed out of crystals found in the urine. Most of the time these crystals pass through the urine with out ever being noticed, but they can build up inside the kidneys and form much larger stones. Kidney stones are often painless when they are in the kidney, but they can cause severe pain when they travel from the kidney to bladder. If a kidney stone becomes large enough to block the flow of urine, it can cause pressure, severe pain and infection. If a stone moves out of the kidney with the flow of urine, it normally causes severe pain as it moves through the ureters. If the stone gets stuck, a serious infection can occur. Kidney stones can cause permanent damage to the kidneys.
Types of Stones-There are several different types of kidney stones. They include following forms
Calcium stones - are the most common types of kidney stones. These stones are formed when the individual has an excessive amount of vitamin D, overactive parathyroid glands, or the individual has certain diseases such as saracoidosis, cancer or certain types of kidney diseases.
Struvite stones - are most often found in women and are caused by an excess of ammonia in the urine.
Cystine stones - are caused by cystinuria a hereditary disorder found in approximately 1% of men and women
Uric acid stones - are caused by an excess of uric acid. This is caused by eating a lot of meat, gout, and sometimes chemotherapy.

Symptoms -The symptoms of kidney stones includes pain in one or both sides of the back, bloody and cloudy urine, nausea, vomiting, a frequent urge to urinate, burning sensation during urination, fever and chills.

Diagnosis-Kidney stones are diagnosed through several methods including blood tests, urine analysis, x-rays, IVU, ultrasound, and sometimes by a simple examination.
Kidney stone treatments vary according to the type of stone and cause of formation. Small stones that are not causing symptoms, obstruction and/or infection do not normally need to be treated.
Prevention-Drinking plenty of fluids increases the urine production and helps to get rid of the stones. No other treatment is needed once a stone is passed. Stones that are larger or that do not respond to the above treatment will need to be treated medically. These procedures normally require lasers and surgery that can be expensive.

Dangers Generated From Smoking

"Smoking is Injurious to Health"; this is the caution advice that we read on all cigarettes packets. Still we go ahead to take that puff of ecstasy. Why? Are we trying to be ignorant or is it something else. Tobacco intake is the single most preventable cause of premature death in today’s times. Tobacco or nicotine is the chemical that narrows our blood vessels thereby reducing the life giving air that we intake, which in turn forces us to fight for that extra air.
Why we are drawn towards smoking The younger generation of today’s times is the one, which is the most stricken by this deadly disease. The biggest reason for which is they are in a haste to prove them selves to be grownups and mature. A 13 yr old boy standing in the streets with his friends puffing the circles of smoke in air, feels he is mature and big enough to take his decisions and thinks that now it is that he has broken free from the shackles of his parents boundations which say that "smoking is injurious to health". He does so in pure enjoyment and fun, not realizing that he is indeed letting the shackles of a deadly disease trap him and is not in fact breaking free from any.
Hey! Boy, QUIT SMOKING, or else soon you will be in the clutches of the deadly disease. Ill effects of smoking It is smoking that triples the risk of dying from various heart diseases, bronchitis and emphysema. It is smoking that leads to asthma and lung cancer in many people. It is smoking that makes a person baffle for air 3 times more that a non-smoker.
Smoking makes you weak and unfit for athletics and various other sports. Smoking makes people avoid you because it makes your hair and clothes stink. It stains your teeth and you have bad breath. Your lips are often cracked and you look pale. Is that what you call looking mature. No. So quit smoking because it will do no good to you. Smoking is a contagious disease because it not only weakens it victim but also those who are around him.
This is better known as passive smoking where the smoke puffed out by a smoker does harm to the lungs and chest of the person who inhales that air. It is thus the need of the hour that we should take up the matter seriously and do something constructive to free our society from the grips of this deadly disease.

The magic of pain free good health

Has the use of aromas and herbs, only recently been appreciated for their healing, and recuperative qualities? Most certainly not.

Aromas had been used for medicinal, spiritual, and magical purposes going back as far back as Egyptian times 3000 B.C. Even further back in time 5000 B.C. the Tassili cave paintings showed women wearing fragrant flower garlands. There are frequent mentions of the use of potions throughout history ? Pliny the 1st century Roman historian, mentions in his Natural History narrative, 32 remedies prepared from roses, 21 from lilies, 17 from violets, and 25 from pennyroyal. Ancient Indian cultures used sandalwood for genito-urinary infections.

Nostradamus, at the age of 21 received a licence, having studied in Montpellier France, to practise medicine. One of the formulae which he used as a remedy for several conditions, has survived to this day, and was compounded of rose petals, cloves, lignum aloes, and the dried roots of iris and sweet flag.

The ancient Greeks also contributed to the origins of herbal medicine. Dioscorides, a military doctor was the author of De Materia Medica a book on herbal medicine, which was the foundation of all subsequent books for a further 1600 years. Galen another Greek doctor also wrote a major book on herbal medicine De Simplicibus in the 2nd century which was used up to the middle ages by the Islamic physicians.

The word of herbalism was carried to Europe via the crusaders, and the texts were translated into Latin, which when printing was developed, the information became more widespread, though only if you could read. So herbal folklore passed on from generation to generation, by word of mouth. In the 16th century John Gerard published in 1597 the "Herbal or General Historie of Plantes". He had been greatly influenced by the great medical scholar Paracelsus.

Now in recent time the medical fraternity is becoming aware of the benefits of some of these ancient methods, and in the United Kingdom some areas are becoming available on the National Health System. I would invite you to visit the sites included in www.magicure.com and see for yourself the benefits that are available.

Secrets to Healthy Weight Gain

There is so much emphasis on weight loss in todays culture that it is easy for people to forget that many out there are actually people out there trying to gain weight, not lose it.

There are many different reasons why someone might be trying to gain weight. Many people for example may become underweight due to medical problems, such as hormonal problems or digestive diseases.

Still others have a very fast metabolism, and are naturally thin, to the point where they may feel uncomfortable about their weight.

You may be one of the few athletes out there that is looking to pack on more pounds to appear muscular. Regardless of your reasons, gaining weight requires that you pay careful attention to your diet to gain weight in a healthy manner.

The key to gaining weight healthily is taking in more Calories per day than you expend. The number of calories you burn during a day will depend on a number of factors.
If you are an athlete, you likely burn more calories than someone who leads a relatively sedentary existence. A physically demanding job might also result in greater caloric expenditure every day.

Once you take into consideration your activity level, adopt the following tips, which will guide you through the weight gain challenge in a healthy way:

1) Eat foods that are high in good fats including those that come from fish, avocados and nuts. Avoid high calorie ? sweets? that will only add fat not muscle to your frame. You should also ensure that you are consuming adequate amounts of whole grains and proteins.

2) Take a multi vitamin and mineral supplement every day.

3) Exercise, particularly strength train. Strength training will help you build muscle mass, which in turn will help fill out your figure.

4) Try eating five to six smaller meals per day. Keep your body Full of high density and high energy foods that will keep you energized throughout the day.

The most important thing to remember is that it is possible to gain weight in a manner that is healthy. Remember above all else to stay away from foods that are highly processed, contain too much sugar or are full of saturated fats.
